[9/1/2010] - Freeplay music and ddjacksoncomposer.com
Lately, I've been finding myself doing more and more music for film, t.v. and other media. I think this is perhaps the natural culmination of a few factors: my life-long interest in computers and technology, my desire to be at home more with my 4 and 1-year old, and, of course, my love of writing music in different collaborative settings (which in the past has included opera, dance, musical theatre, and large-scale orchestra). One of the t.v. shows I write for, in fact - "The Wonder Pets" (Nickelodeon) - just received its 3rd consecutive Emmy for "Outstanding Music Direction and Composition" and another ("The Ocean Room", for which I wrote the entire 26-episode underscore), was just today nominated for a Gemini (the "Canadian Emmy") for "Best Preschool Program or Series". To this end, I have two developments to announce: the launch of my "D.D. Jackson Composer" website at ddjacksoncomposer.com , and the arrival at the popular music licensing website Freeplay of my own"D.D. Jackson Collection" in conjunction with my membership in the Manhattan Producers Alliance featuring music that can be licensed for use on television and in other projects. While I plan to consider my jazz endeavors when the opportunity arises for sure (and, in fact, just finished a busy summer of such projects!), I'm also looking forward to the opportunity to be at home in my home studio, working "to deadline" for a variety of new media!
