I am a two-time Emmy Award-winning composer, and Juno Award-winning jazz pianist and educator. As a composer, I specialize in writing, arranging, and producing memorable, custom-made music for t.v., film & other media. I consider myself an "artistic problem solver": I strive to get to the essential conceptual truth of what the client is looking for - and to express it in a creative and supportive way. If you live in the SOMA (Maplewood/South Orange, NJ and surrounding) areas, I am available to teach private lessons out of my Maplewood, NJ production studio to ages 13 and up. Areas of potential study include composing for media (including working with programs like Logic Pro, sample libraries, arranging/composition); songwriting; plus piano (including jazz piano), with flexible hours. I also teach part-time as a faculty member at Brooklyn College in their Global Jazz Masters program and also Media Scoring at their Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema (and previously was Chair of Jazz and Contemporary Studies at the Harlem School of the Arts).
